My name is Travis.  I’m a 25-year-old guy living on the East coast of Florida.  I love to try new things, and I have had many different hobbies throughout my life.  Writing is the one hobby that has stayed with me.

My Old Dream

I’ve been dreaming of being a professional writer for a long time.  For much of that time, my dream has been:

1. Write novel in spare time.
2. Publish novel.
3. Become rich and famous.

As it turns out, following this plan is much harder than I thought it would be. 

My New Experiment

I’ve been reading about many different ways to earn money by writing on the Internet.  This has inspired me to look more realistically at writing professionally.  For the next 12 months, I’m going to give it a shot.  I’m going to treat my writing like a part-time job and work hard to build income streams from my writing.  My end goal is to quit my 9 to 5 job and be a writer full time.  This experiment will let me test the waters, focus my energies, and show me if I have what it takes.

At the end of the 12 months, I’ll evaluate my writing experiment by asking questions like:

• Was writing still fun as a job?
• Did people like my work?
• Did I earn enough income to justify quitting my day job and pursuing writing full time?

Why the Blog?

So why would I blog about my quest to earn income from writing?

I’m hoping this blog will:

• keep me focused on writing.
• organize my thoughts and plans.
• thoroughly document my writing experiment.
• help others learn methods to earn income from writing.
• provide me with great feedback along the way (from readers like you).
• drive traffic to my writing on other sites.
• earn money itself.
• inspire other aspiring writers to go for it!

This last step is so important.  I have been dreaming of being a writer for a long time, but I finally realized that I just have to stop dreaming and start writing!
